On The Up and Up
Did you miss us last month, VIP's? Not to worry, I'm here to provide all the updates. Let's catch up.
July was a busy month with exciting updates, including the announcement of our Kids Ride Free Program, fare adjustments, and the launch of our new website and mobile app. We appreciate your patience as we embrace change here at VRE-after all, it's the one thing that's constant!
Wondering what I've been up to as the marketing assistant at HQ? It's been an two months! I had the pleasure of attending VRE's topping-out celebration for the Manassas Park Parking Garage. It was wonderful to acknowledge the hard work Flemming Construction has put in over the past year, and we're eagerly anticipating the garage's completion next year. This new facility will not only serve our Manassas Station riders but also benefit those shopping, dining, and visiting family in the area. Being inside an underconstruction parking garage, where I could see the floors above and below me through the concrete slabs, was a unique experience. A big thank you to the City of Manassas, our contractors at Manhattan Construction, and VHB for all their efforts on this project so far.
VRE also celebrated its cross-honor agreement with MARC, which will provide both VRE and MARC riders with affordable, two-seat rides across state lines! AnyVRE rider with a multi-ride ticket will now be able to seamlessly travel across state lines. The event emphasized that this is just the first step in laying the groundwork for future efforts to better align regional transit.
In addition to these celebratory events, it's been a whirlwind of community outreach. VRE partnered with Spotsylvania County Public Schools to spread the word about safety measures when driving near train tracks and the importance of stopping at rail crossings. We were able distribute 450 stickers for school buses across Spotsy-let's go, safety!
Our train yard was thrilled to welcome two dozen U.S. Department of Transportation interns at our Broad Run Yard. Providing tours to the future leaders of transportation is always a breath of fresh air. Thanks to USDOT for the opportunity
